4 Days From Marrakech To Fes

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Gorge

Departing at 8 am from Marrakesh, we’ll journey towards Dades Valley through the High Atlas mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Along the way, soak in the stunning landscapes and visit Berber hamlets. Enjoy a break for coffee or mint tea amidst the scenic views. In the afternoon, explore the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its role in numerous films. Passing through Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Africa, we’ll continue to Dades Valley, passing through the Megoun and Skoura, and spend the night there.

Day 2: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

After breakfast, marvel at the rock formations known as “the monkey toes” and visit the 19th-century Kasbah of Ait Yul in Dades Valley. Journey towards Tinrghir and the Todra Valley, witnessing panoramic views of ancient mud Berber villages. Explore the Todra Gorge, walking beneath the towering 300m high red cliffs. Continuing on, we’ll stop for lunch in Erfoud and Rissani before reaching the village of Merzouga. Upon arrival, enjoy a warm welcome with mint tea before checking into our Hotel/Riad.

Day 3: Merzouga area and the Camel trek

Begin the day with breakfast before exploring the area. Visit Khamlia village, home to the Gnawi people, to experience their music and culture. Nearby, admire the picturesque Merzouga lake, often populated by flamingos. You may also explore the nomad wire house, where Berber handicrafts are sold. In the afternoon, embark on a camel ride guided by an experienced camel guide, exploring the sand-sea of Erg Chebbi for 2-3 hours before spending the night under the stars or in a traditional Berber nomad tent.

Day 4: Merzouga – Fes

Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning and you will have change to watch best sunrise of your life. Then , you’ll enjoy camel-trek back to your hotel/riad ,crossing unique dunes of Erg Chebbi – changing with the light as the day progresses.

After tasty breakfast in the local guest-house we will travel to Fes via Erfoud , Aoufous and Errachidia along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock and through the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt. We will stop in Zaida to enjoy a barbecue and refresh with a glass of mint tea ,then we continue to Azrou, a Berber village in the Middle Atlas Mountains. Here we’ll stop to see the Barbarian apes in the famous Cedar forest. Then we drive to Ifrane – “the French village”, stopping for a picture and drink before we arrive to Fes ,where the tour ends.
